Santa Clara - 8/28/2008 - Underscoring its commitment to helping consumers better manage and enjoy their digital media content, Macrovision® Solutions Corporation (NASDAQ: MVSN) today announced the latest version of the LASSO media recognition solution. The new enhancements in LASSO now make it possible for more devices types, such as MP3 players, mobile devices, home CD and DVD players, and automotive entertainment systems, to have access to Macrovision’s extensive AMG data solutions database of music and movie information.
In order for their products to be the device of choice, CE manufacturers need easy-to-implement, customizable solutions that add consumer appeal. With Macrovision’s LASSO solution, CE manufacturers can embed content identification capabilities directly into digital media devices, in both connected and unconnected situations.
The latest version of Macrovision’s LASSO offers CE Manufacturers flexibility to customize the size of the database, by field or category of information, content size and geographic region. This makes it easy for CE manufacturers to implement the AMG data solutions database for almost any device type, regardless of screen limitations.
With the new solution embedded in CE devices, consumers can now search a discography to quickly find all albums released by their favorite artists, as well as identify CD or DVD information by a UPC barcode number to differentiate their media content from other released versions.
“Consumer demands for viewing or listening experience are constantly changing and getting more sophisticated,” said Steve Shannon, executive vice president, product management, Macrovision. “At Macrovision, we want to help CE manufacturers deliver an enhanced entertainment experience across a broad spectrum of devices in any environment, both online and off. Our LASSO media recognition solution, coupled with our comprehensive database of media information, is essential in advancing the consumer experience.”
The complete solution is designed around providing consumers with a richer entertainment experience on their CE devices. It includes access to AMG’s full entertainment database, making it possible for users to easily pull up descriptive and relational data about their favorite content, including album and track titles, artist biographies, cover art, genre information, and similar artists/titles. LASSO is also the industry’s only solution to provide this rich level of data for DVD titles.
Macrovision will demonstrate the LASSO technology at the CONNECTIONS EUROPE Summit Series at the Bristol Hotel Kempinski on August 29th taking place in conjunction with IFA in Berlin, Germany.
