Hawkeye End-of-Life Notice

On November 30, 2007, Macrovision is announcing the end of life (EOL) of Hawkeye 2.0, the service used to protect video, games, and software content on P2P file-sharing networks. After December 31, 2007, the Hawkeye service will be discontinued and cannot be used by customers.

Although Hawkeye has solid market presence, intensive operational and infrastructure resources are required to sustain the P2P protection service. While Macrovision's core focus remains securing content for digital distribution, Hawkeye's network-based, service-oriented model does not fit with our overall business plan.

Macrovision remains firmly committed to providing video with industry-leading content protection technologies for DVD and electronic media, including:

  • ACP-DVD and ACP–VOD, which protect premium video content distributed via DVD or electronically
  • RipGuard®-DVD, a proven technology that allows you to protect your video content from casual rippers
